Richard (Rick) O'Connell

Adventure Capitalist

Age: 13

Birthplace: Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA

Parents: Thomas and Anna O'Connell (deceased)

Expertise:

Well traveled (by way of stowing away on countless steamers and trains.) Self taught to read and write. Trained in the arts of combat and espionage by Helga Sinclair. Naturally "street smart."  One of a few people to outthink Sinclair in chess twice (once by proper rules, once by his rules of which she was aware of, but allowed him to continue, with the theory of `that's fair game.')

Background:

Richard "Rick" O'Connell was orphaned at an early age, bouncing from orphanage to orphanage until the age of six when he ran away to seek his own future and not that of the nuns' choosing. He began learning the ways of the street and how to survive by thieving. It was when he tried to pick the wrong pocket of a woman in the Philippines that he met Helga Sinclair. (Afterward, very battered and bruised, but he put up a good fight for a seven-year-old.) Sinclair admired the boy's audacity, and needing a diversion from personal affairs, took the boy

under wing. Traveled with Sinclair on the Journal Expedition (April, 1911); returned to the USA (December, 1911). Whitmore took a liking to the boy during the Journal Expedition, allowed him to stay the manor while Sinclair was Whitmore's bodyguard and chauffer. There, Rick delved into Whitmore's library, learning a great deal about ancient civilizations and treasures, along with first hand knowledge from Whitmore about priceless artifacts.
